After spending a few years with my 2014 RAM 1500 quad cab, I was ready to make some significant upgrades to it. I was looking for a sport hood, and while looking I found a really nice one owner 2015 Sport that had the options I wanted to update and more... so I deduced that it would be more efficient to upgrade the whole truck versus upgrading my 2014.

One of the things I've always liked but never had, was a lifted truck. At 62, I decided that I should do it while I am still capable of getting up and down into it.

I couldn't begin this process until I determined the stance (which I did earlier). Now... simply put, the right wheels and tires will make the looks of the vehicle. Choose right, its pretty hard to screw up... choose wrong, and the there is no hope. Even when I've thought I picked well, I've been bummed out when I saw the wrong wheel/tire combo after I already paid. Consequently, I spent more time looking over tons of photos... I'm pretty sure I looked at every single wheel style on the Internet - multiple times. Once I got the style I wanted, I still had to figure out the size combination and offset.

I did the graphic decals on my 2014 RAM, but on this truck I knew I wanted to take my stripes all the way down the front, over the top, and down the back. There were way too many competing curves for me to be able to keep the stripes straight, so I went to a shop and stepped up to pay for the job for the center stripes from front to back. I followed up by adding the bed side and cover stripes, and creating some custom RAM Sport bed decals.
I went back and forth on this decision longer than any other option. When I finally decided to pull the trigger, I went all in and chose the Air Design flares. In the end, the built in mud flaps were very appealing for the look I was going for. Unfortunately, they were the most expensive flares I saw (even in primer) and I couldn't find ANY examples on line where someone had them color matched on the RAM (but I guess I can be the first). BTW: after the paint cures, I plan to carry the rear stripes through the flares.

I will admit, that like most other folks... I wanted to get the power steps. However, with all of the other stuff I was buying at the same time - I couldn't justify another $2500 for power steps. I looked at every side step out there, and in the end opted for a style that didn't look as cheap as many I've seen and that had what appear to be a more solid step platform for getting in and out in the variety of weather types found in Oregon.

This is an essential to every vehicle. I opted to go with a pretty dark tint up front this time.
